Design Development - Collages (Impression, Strand, & Program)

Design Development - Collages  (Impression, Strand, & Program) How can I develop collages that have images that inspire, show different outlines, scales, details and materials, and blend all into one composition?    What is a collage?  A collage is a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric onto a backing. That is what drives a design in my opinion. To think and artistically create something based on different words to help gather both information and design ideas for something much bigger. With that being said, we were asked to create three different collages that will ultimately help our design development. For each collage it had a specific theme to it. The first being "Site Impression", the second being "Strand" and lastly the third being "Program." Site Impression The first, Site impression was a collage where I placed images that made me think of how the site

Bubble and Matrix Adjacency Diagrams

Bubble and Matrix Adjacency Diagrams After gathering information, how does that develop into the programs necessary for my typologies? Now that we've dove into our analysis, and what typologies would be best suited for my site; now it's time to think of all the spaces and programs and how it correlates together. Our first diagram illustrates the importance of having all three typologies together and how well they can be used together. In terms on where it would be located is still to be determined but with analyzing important spaces and non important spaces will better give an understanding to the overall project. Now I start to separate the typologies as individuals to really go in depth with the diagrams. For my first one I have the Market typology. With this I figure out what is adjacent, nearby, not related and not adjacent at all with all the proposed programs. With that being said I can get a sense on the possibilities for design as well. For the

Building Typologies - Space Organization

Building Typologies - Space Organization After analyzing the three different typologies, can we take it a step further and go more in depth with the projects? Taking all three projects and breaking down the typologies, and their functions; how can I show you how the spaces are organized? with these diagrams I hope to give you an insight to understand the project even further and give you an idea at how spaces are laid out to make the most sense.   Mercado Roma - Market      Institute for the Culinary Arts - Culinary School      Cheering Restaurant - Hospitality

Building Typologies Analysis

Building Typologies Analysis How do we further analyze projects to help achieve a better understanding to what is necessary for my project. Now that we have an understanding to what I want to design on Anchorage Plaza, the next phase of analysis is learning more information about other sites and projects. In this case I decided to pick out three different projects. Each one of them signifies one specific building typology so that it can give a better insight at how I can incorporate all three typologies into my design further along the way. With that, let me show you what I've analyzed and help you understand as well how I broke down these projects. First Project - Typology (Outdoor/Hospitality) - Mercado Roma Second Project - Typology (Educational) - Institute for the Culinary Arts Third Project - Typology (Hospitality) - Cheering Restaurant

Anchorage Plaza Site Analysis By Andres Marte How can I better make you understand the site where my design will be incorporated? Please be intrigued in finding my research and information helpful to give you an understanding of this incredible site.

Building Typology - Anchorage Plaza Research

Anchorage Plaza - Project Information and Research Typology. What Information can be found to further analyze what type of building can be built at Anchorage plaza. Q. Which building typology are you researching? A. To begin what building typology is "(in urban planning and architecture) is the taxonomic classification of characteristics commonly found in buildings and urban places, according to their association with different categories, such as intensity of development."(WikiLinks)In that case, the building typology I've decided to research is a restaurant with night life, culinary school and market (Hospitality, Educational & Outdoor). Q. Why are you researching this building typology? A. Anchorage plaza is sitting underneath the start of the Brooklyn Bridge. The site is practically a gateway to connecting Brooklyn's culture to Manhattan's culture; with that, I want to design a restaurant that will bring out the culture that the ar
